Earring #1, #2 & #3: 18K Plated Sterling Silver and Onyx

In recent years, high-end Colombian jewelers have focused on recreating Pre-Columbian objects without retaining their intended use; what were once nose ornaments are now bracelets, pectorals are now chokers and talismans are now rings in an effort to make the objects more palatable to modern Colombian audiences.

What if instead of replicating funeral objects we extract from these new geometries to make modern pieces?

Titled Fragmentos, the following 3 earrings explore the creation of an alphabet based on 3 pre-Columbian objects in order to create 3 modern pieces which are both tied to and completely separate from the original pre-Columbian artifacts.
